Iowa's defensive line depth has taken a hit. One of the Hawkeyes' veteran defensive lineman has announced his intentions to transfer.

Romeo McKnight, a redshirt sophomore, announced on Twitter last night that he's decided to transfer out of the Hawkeyes' program.

Here's his full announcement:

McKnight was a three-star recruit coming out of high school in 2016. He redshirted as a freshman and then missed the 2017 season with a knee injury. The defensive lineman is seeking more playing time elsewhere.

It's unclear at this point what schools McKnight will consider as a transfer.

Iowa opens its 2018 season on Sept. 1 against Northern Illinois.
