For the first time ever, ESPN’s College GameDay is heading to Ames, Iowa — home to the Iowa State Cyclones. The show will be in town for ISU’s contest versus No. 19 Iowa. There is plenty of excitement surrounding the match-up. It will certainly be an intense atmosphere.
The Cyclones escaped a near-disaster loss in their season opener. They needed three overtimes to beat Northern Iowa.
Iowa State is led by quarterback Brock Purdy who threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns in week one. The Cyclones had an early bye in week two, giving them an extra preparation time for Iowa.
The 19th-ranked Hawkeyes have played some great football so far this year — albeit against inferior competition. Dominant wins over Miami (Ohio) and Rutgers have folks in Iowa City feeling good. But a trip to Ames will be a much tougher test.
Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley has 488 passing yards and six touchdowns heading into week three. He’s helped by running back Mekhi Sargent — 27 carries for 150 yards and one touchdown.
Here are the details for Saturday’s game:
Game Time: 4 PM ET
Spread: Iowa -2
Announcers: Brian Custer, Robert Smith, Sarah Kustok
Vegas is expecting a close battle seeing as the Hawkeyes are just two-point favorites. Iowa has won four straight over the Cyclones. Will they make it five straight on Saturday? Or can Iowa State pull of an upset at home?
The game takes place at 4 PM ET on FS1.
