Michigan TE Jake Butt Reportedly Has A Torn ACL

Michigan tight end Jake Butt reportedly tore his ACL during the Orange Bowl.

Friday night, Michigan tight end Jake Butt injured his right knee on a 14-yard reception in the second quarter of his team's Orange Bowl contest against Florida State. Saturday night, we're learning the severity of the injury.

Butt, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, has a torn ACL. That's heartbreaking news for a player who was projected to be one of the first tight ends taken in this coming year's NFL Draft.

Butt, a senior, does not have the option to return to school. He'll have to rehab the injury while beginning his professional career. Here's video of the injury:

Expect the news here to reignite the debate regarding whether star players should sit in non-playoff bowl games. Butt's likely cost himself at least a few spots in the draft here.
