Is Jalen Hurd leaving Tennessee?
Jalen Hurd, a junior running back at Tennessee, is reportedly planning on transferring out of the Volunteers' program.
Jimmy Hyams, a radio host in Knoxville, says that Hurd told his teammates on Sunday night that he plans on transferring and playing wide receiver or tight end at his new school.
A message board post by someone - his uncle, apparently - appears to explain why Hurd is done at Tennessee.
Hurd has totaled 451 yards and three touchdowns on 122 carries this season.
Tennessee (5-3) has had a very disappointing 2016 campaign. The Volunteers started the 2016 season ranked in the top 10 with SEC title and College Football Playoff aspirations. Butch Jones' team has since lost three games, including a 49-10 loss to Alabama and, most recently, a 24-21 loss at previously 3-4 South Carolina.
The Volunteers are set to face Tennessee Tech on Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. The game will kick off at 4 p.m. E.T. on SEC Network.
