James Franklin's Bonus Total Will Leave You Speechless

James Franklin coached his way to an insane payday.

James Franklin's Penn State Nittany Lions overachieved this year. As a result, Franklin is racking up bonuses faster than Michael Phelps wins gold medals.

According to USA Today, here's a breakdown of the bonuses Franklin already has in his pocket:

$250,000 for playing in the Big Ten Championship
$200,000 for playing in ANY bowl game
$100,000 WIN Big Ten Championship

For those not wanting to do math, that's $550,000 in Franklin's wallet. But that's not all.

Penn State defeated Wisconsin to win the Big Ten Championship, but the Nittany Lions didn't make the College Football Playoff. As a consolation, Penn State made it to the Rose Bowl and will face USC. For making it to a New Year's Six bowl, Franklin gets an extra $100,000 on top of the bonuses he already received.

Had Penn State made the playoff, Franklin could have racked up $950,000 if the Nittany Lions won the national championship.
