Jamil Burroughs is just a sophomore in high school, but he is already making serious progress in his recruitment. The class of 2020 defensive tackle rolled out a top six recently.

Burroughs is a native of Powder Springs, Georgia. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound lineman stars for McEachern High School.

Right now, it sounds like he plans to stay in the Southeast. The six schools that stand out for him are all fairly local, with five hailing from the SEC.

Here are the six schools that Jamil Burroughs is focusing on, via Rivals:

"My top six schools are Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson and South Carolina," said Burroughs. "I have already visited half of those this year and I will be taking more visits soon."

He confirmed the list on Twitter after the Rivals article dropped:

Over at Rivals, he gave brief breakdowns about each of those teams. He does say that there is no order, and is open to other schools getting involved.

While he is still pretty far out from National Signing Day 2020, he is still working down the list early on. More from Burroughs:

"You can only commit to one school, so I have got it down to six and I will likely get it down to four," said Burroughs. "I know what I am looking for in a school, so I know which schools I like.

"I have good relationships with coaches at each of my top six schools and that is important to me. Each of these schools is staying on me and I feel I could do well at any of them."

Burroughs doesn't have enough rankings for a composite score, but both 247Sports and Rivals have him down as a four-star recruit. 247 has him at No. 87 overall, and No. 3 among 2020 defensive tackles.
