The former Tennessee star has been linked to the job.

Jason Witten, yes, the Dallas Cowboys' Jason Witten, was linked to the Tennessee head coaching job earlier today.

Clay Travis reported that Witten, a former Vols star, told the administration that he would take the job if needed.

"As the Tennessee search redirects, I'm told current Dallas Cowboy tight end Jason Witten has let Tennessee athletic director John Currie know he would leave the Cowboys to take over the Tennessee football job," Travis said.

The idea of Jason Witten becoming Tennessee's head coach seems pretty ridiculous and it appears to be untrue.

Witten said on 1310 The Ticket in Dallas that he has no interest in leaving the Cowboys for the Vols' job.

"My feet are planted firmly here with the Cowboys," he said. "That's something I'm not pursuing."
