The Ducks are keeping their top assistant with a crazy-high salary.

Oregon got great news on Sunday night.

The Ducks' defensive coordinator, Jim Leavitt, will be staying in Eugene, Ore. despite the head coaching change. Leavitt has agreed to a new contract that will make him one of the highest-paid assistant coaches in college football.

Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldman reported on Sunday night that Leavitt had agreed to a new contract with $1.7 million/annually.

The $1.7 million salary is tied for the second-highest annual salary in college football for an assistant coach, trailing LSU's Dave Aranda and equal to Clemson's Brent Venables.
