Former USC Star Joe McKnight Killed In Louisiana

Joe McKnight has reportedly been killed in a shooting in Louisiana.

Joe McKnight, 28, was reportedly shot to death in Terrytown, La. this afternoon.

From NOLA.com:

A witness, who declined to give her name, said she was leaving a store in the area when she saw a man at the intersection yelling at another man, who was trying to apologize. The man who was yelling shot the other man more than once, she said.

She said the shooter shot the man, stood over him and said "I told you don't you f--- with me." Then he fired again, she said.

The victim's body was on Behrman Highway, surrounded by a shield.

McKnight played collegiately at USC, where he was dubbed upon his arrival by many as the "next Reggie Bush." He was a five-star recruit pursued by every program in the country, ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the nation by Scout.com.

He had a decent career with the Trojans before declaring for the 2010 NFL Draft. McKnight was taken by the New York Jets in the fourth round. He played in New York until he was released in 2013, then getting picked up by the Chiefs. McKnight had most-recently played in the Canadian Football League.

Numerous athletes have taken to Twitter to pay their respects.

Rest in peace, Joe.
