Joe Thomas Rips Oregon For Workout That Sent 3 Players To The Hospital

The All-Pro offensive lineman has a big problem with the Ducks.

Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas, the No. 3 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft and an eight-time All-Pro, took to Twitter to rip Oregon's football program.

The Ducks made headlines late Monday night when it was reported by The Oregonian that three of the school's football players had been hospitalized following a grueling workout.

Offensive linemen Doug Brenner and Sam Poutasi and tight end Cam McCormick are in fair condition and remained at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield on Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said. They have been in the hospital since late last week after workouts that occurred during the team’s return from holiday break.

Poutasi’s mother, Oloka, said that her son complained of very sore arms after the workouts and had been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, a syndrome in which soft muscle tissue is broken down with “leakage into the blood stream of muscle contents,” according to the NCAA medical handbook.

Thomas says whoever is responsible needs to be fired.

Strong words from the former Wisconsin standout, but you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who disagrees with him.
