College football is less than two weeks away, so now is the time to get any preseason lists in. Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt produced one today naming the best player in each Power 5 conference.
Three of Klatt’s top players are quarterbacks, and seeing their names here shouldn’t be a surprise. They are Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence (ACC), Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa (SEC) and Texas’ Sam Ehlinger (Big 12).
The only non-QBs on the list are offensive stars in their own right: Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor out of the Big Ten and Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault out of the Pac-12.
CFB question for you…Which player is the BEST player in each Power 5 conference?? My answers below
-Pac12 – Laviska Shenault WR Colo
-Big12 – Sam Ehlinger QB Tex
-Big10 – Jonathan Taylor RB Wis
-SEC – Tua Tagovailoa QB Bama
-ACC – Trevor Lawrence QB Clem
Your turn, GO

In our estimation, Lawrence is probably the biggest lock on here. Judging by the responses to Klatt’s tweet, one name on this list is more controversial than the others: Sam Ehlinger.
Some are suggesting Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts or wide receiver CeeDee Lamb over Ehlinger. Klatt is clearly buying into the improvement Ehlinger showed in Year Two, when he produced 41 total touchdowns and made major jumps in completion percentage and adjusted yards per passing attempt (AY/A).
You could also debate whether or not a defensive star should have made the cut, but lists like these usually seem to benefit offensive players.
