Kansas State's John Currie is reportedly all set to become the Tennessee Volunteers' new athletic director, replacing Dave Hart following his retirement.

Kansas State athletic director John Currie is reportedly all set to take over the AD job for Tennessee, according to Michael Smith of SportsBusiness Journal.

This is a hire that has been praised by many. "One of the best in the business."

Current Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart announced in August 2016 that he would be retiring from the position, effective June 30, 2017.

Currie earned a Master's of Science degree in sports management from Tennessee, and previously worked at Tennessee as the assistant athletic director from 1997 - 2008 before accepting the athletic director role at Kansas State.

During his time at Kansas State, Currie oversaw Big 12 Conference championships in football, basketball and baseball. In all, the Wildcats won 9 NCAA individual titles and 50 Big 12 titles. He was also named one of the four 2013 Under Armour Athletic Directors of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics. Kansas State's athletic budget has maintained a surplus for six straight years, and the budget has increased by $26 million during Currie's tenure.

An official announcement regarding Currie's hiring is expected to take place later in the day on Tuesday.
