The recruiting cycle is coming to an end, and wide receiver John Jackson is looking to pack in some late visits.
John Jackson is a three-star recruit out of Gardena, CA. He is the No. 561 player in the country, per 247Sports.
The site also has him ranked No. 97 among receivers. He’s the No. 63 player in the Golden State.
Local powers UCLA and USC are both listed as having offered Jackson, but he’s looking at some interesting schools east of his home state.
He says that three schools stick out on his short list, and he wants to visit all of them soon. First up is UNLV.
Jackson will check out the Rebels with a trip to Las Vegas this weekend. After that, he’s going to have to get creative, with just one more weekend between now and National Signing Day on February 7.
The other two schools involved are Iowa State and Nebraska. He is going to try to see both in the same weekend.
Here’s what he had to say about these final three programs. Via 247Sports:
“I set up a trip to UNLV for this weekend and I’m looking forward to the visit,” Jackson said. “They came in for a home visit this week and they’re recruiting me really hard.
“I’m also talking with Iowa State and Nebraska and I’m trying to figure out a way to visit both schools next weekend. I like both programs a lot and the coaches have been good with me and making a strong push so hopefully by the weekend, I’ll have it all sorted out.”
It is about a 3.5-hour drive from Ames to Lincoln. It’s definitely doable, but his visits to both programs will probably be fairly abridged.
Jackson is an impressive two-sport athlete. According to the 247 article, he is also likely to be selected in the MLB Draft. It is unclear if he will attempt to play both sports in college.
