Johnny Manziel Names College Football Playoff QB He Trusts The Most

The College Football Playoff semifinals are set to take place over the next two days.

Notre Dame will play Penn State in the Orange Bowl on Thursday while Ohio State will play Texas in the Cotton Bowl on Friday.

Quarterback play will be paramount for each team that wants to advance to the CFP National Championship Game and when Johnny Manziel was asked which QB he trusts the most, he went with Quinn Ewers.

“I think I’d rather take Quinn, with the way he played and some of those clutch moments against Arizona State,” Manziel said, (first transcribed by On3). “The guy has been to back-to-back college football playoffs that they’ve had. He’s been in big games. He’s been in big moments."

Ewers hit some big throws during the Peach Bowl against Arizona State. The Longhorns' season was on the line and on 4th & 13, he hit the game-tying touchdown in overtime before throwing the game-winning touchdown in double overtime.

Ewers finished the game with 322 yards through the air, three touchdowns, and only one interception. He has thrown for 3,189 yards through the air with 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season.

He'll need to have another strong performance if the Longhorns want to take down the Buckeyes. They're facing a Buckeyes team that has blown out both the Tennesee Volunteers and the Oregon Ducks in the first two rounds of the CFP.

The top-seeded Ducks came into that Rose Bowl against the Buckeyes with a 13-0 record but got blown out by 20, 41-21. The game was virtually over at halftime with how the Buckeyes were playing.

Friday's game should be a blast but don't sleep on Thursday's game either. Both the Irish and Nittany Lions are playing some excellent football.

Kickoff for both games will be at 7:30 p.m. ET.
