Junior College OL Sean Callahan, 19, Found Dead On Sunday

A junior college offensive lineman was found dead at home Sunday afternoon.

Tragedy struck the Garden City (Kan.) Community College football program this weekend. Sean Callahan, 19, an offensive lineman for the Broncbusters, was found dead at a home in Kismet, Kan., according to the Kansas City Star.

The Star also said that as of Monday, Callahan's death was still being investigated, though it had not yet been deemed suspicious.

The official Garden City C.C. athletics website confirmed the news.

"I'm very sad for Sean's family, friends, teammates, our college, myself and anyone that had contact with Sean," Broncbuster Coach Jeff Sims said in a statement. "He truly was growing and developing into a man with a bright future."

According to the Garden City athletics website, Callahan started all 11 games at offensive guard last fall, helping the Broncbusters win the NJCAA National Championship.

He began his collegiate career at Highland Community College in 2015 before transferring to Garden City. Tragically, he had just obtained his Associate's Degree on Friday during commencement exercises.

Our thoughts are with Callahan's family and the Garden City program.
