The most popular football video making the rounds on social media this week has nothing to do with the NFL or XFL. Instead, it has to do with St. Thomas Aquinas offensive tackle Julian Armella.
Armella is going viral for his performance in a one-on-one drill at a Rivals camp. During the drill, he grabs his opponent by the back of his jersey and flings him to the turf. Several people on social media applauded Armella for his physicality.
Ohio State superstar Chase Young commented on the video, saying "This isn’t blocking." Young, who's projected to be the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, knows a thing or two about proper technique. He's not the only prominent figure from the college football world that shared their thoughts on this matter, as Kirk Herbstreit went on Twitter to blast the Rivals camp.
"Ridiculous to celebrate this," Herbstreit wrote on Twitter. "These camps are trying their best to ruin the sport."
This might seem like a really harsh stance from Herbstreit, but he's not wrong at all. Armella is a talented recruit in his own right and already holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida and other top schools. However, the video going viral probably isn't going to impress college coaches. Do you think Herbstreit's take on this blocking video is fair or foul?
