The College Football Playoff field was unveiled about one hour ago on ESPN. There weren't any real surprises from the committee.

The most drama was surrounding the choice between Ohio State and LSU for the top seed. The Tigers wound up being No. 1, with OSU, Clemson and Oklahoma following to complete the field.

Kirk Herbstreit was part of the ESPN selection show. After correctly predicting that LSU would achieve the No. 1 ranking, Herbie gave his thoughts on the 13-0, SEC Champion Tigers.

"They've been a defensive-minded, ball control and field position team," Herbstreit said. "They're now playing with a totally different set of toys with Joe Burrow, his receivers, the back and an attitude led by Coach O where they want to step on your throat every single play, every single quarter that they play this year."

As for LSU's opponent, Oklahoma, Herbstreit said he expects Sooner players to be motivated by the lack of respect they're getting.

"Imagine being an OU player right now and all you’re hearing is ‘who is going to be No. 1 and avoid Clemson?’ If you’re an OU player or coach, that’s got to fire you up," Herbstreit said.

Finally, Herbstreit said Clemson "could be better" than they were a year ago when they won the national title. The Tigers have their work cut out for them in a matchup with Ohio State.

"I'll touch on this matchup and say the last time they met out in Phoenix it was a blowout and could've been a lot worse with Deshaun Watson," Herbstreit said. "That's a motivating factor for Ohio State and in that room, they're going to feel slighted because they're not No. 1. I think both Clemson and Ohio State have something to prove when they meet out there."

The 2019 College Football Playoff is set for Saturday, December 28.
