No college football game today has bigger stakes than Georgia-Notre Dame. There are serious College Football Playoff implications going down in Athens this evening.

Georgia can probably afford a loss. The Bulldogs could lose to the Fighting Irish, win out, win the SEC and make it in.

Notre Dame, meanwhile, probably can't. The Fighting Irish might be all-but eliminated with a loss this evening.

"Everything" is on the line for Notre Dame tonight, says Kirk Herbstreit.

The Fighting Irish could jump into the thick of the College Football Playoff race with a win.

"They're 60 minutes away from being in control," Herbstreit said. "On the other hand, if they lose this game, they don't have a conference championship."

It's possible Notre Dame could lose a close game, win out, finish 11-1 and still make it in, though that'll be a battle.

"If they lose this game they will have a very tough time," Herbstreit said.

Notre Dame and Georgia are set to kick off at 8 p.m. E.T. The game will be on CBS.
