Kirk Herbstreit Explains Why Alabama Is His "Team To Beat"

Kirk Herbstreit talks about Alabama's strengths.

Here's why the Crimson Tide are his No. 1 team heading into the season.

Kirk Herbstreit was on the call for Alabama's spring game on Saturday.

The ESPN college football analyst is impressed enough with the Crimson Tide to name them his "team to beat" heading into the 2017 season.

Many would say that Clemson, coming off a national title, would be the "team to beat" as the Tigers are the reigning national champions.

Herbstreit, though, says it's a new season and Alabama is his top team.

Alabama brings back Jalen Hurts at quarterback and is surrounding him with five-star talents, including five-star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, the MVP of the Crimson Tide's spring game. And the defense is filled with NFL talents that should form one of the most-intimidating units in the country.

Nick Saban's team opens its 2017 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Florida State in Atlanta.
