ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit was a part of his network's coverage of the 2019 NFL Draft, when the New York Giants took Duke quarterback Daniel Jones at No. 6 overall.

No draft pick in 2019 was more criticized than Jones. NFL analysts and fans ripped the Giants for the pick.

Herbstreit had a message for those critics following Jones' first start today.

"I’m sorry I can’t help it," Herbstreit tweeted. "But being part of the draft coverage this past spring I was so taken back by MANY folks that CRUSHED this guy and the Giants when he was selected-just wondering how frustrated everyone must be by this performance! Congrats Daniel!! Love it!"

Jones was sensational in his first NFL start today, throwing for more than 300 yards and two touchdowns, adding two scores on the ground.

The Giants topped the Bucs, 32-31, to get their first win of the season.
