On Wednesday afternoon, former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts put an end to the transfer rumors with his announcement. Via a piece for the Player's Tribune, Hurts revealed he's taking his talents to Oklahoma after a lengthy career with the Tide.
After Hurts made his announcement, ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit had a message for the former Alabama star.
"Congratulations Jalen for doing this on your terms. Alabama fans should be thankful to you forever. Class act under tough circumstances. Kept your teams dreams alive by your performance on a BIG stage in Atlanta. Incredible! Wish you all the best in Norman," Herbstreit said on Twitter.
It's remarkable in an age where college football writers break news before a player has the chance to announce a decision for themselves that Hurts was able to pull off an announcement of his own.
The past two quarterbacks to play for Oklahoma have won the Heisman Trophy. Can Hurts be the third?
