Heading into the final week of the regular season, it seems like a foregone conclusion that we'll see Alabama in the College Football Playoff for the fifth-straight time. The Tide are the only program to make the playoff in all four years, and it looks like that will happen yet again.
But what happens if Alabama loses to either Auburn this weekend or Georgia in the SEC title game? ESPN's college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit weighed in.
According to Herbie, if Clemson, Notre Dame and Michigan all win-out and Alabama loses, the Tide might not make the playoff. Here's what Herbie had to say about a potential Bama loss, per 247Sports.
I think unless Alabama goes out and just dominates Auburn and then barely loses to Georgia, I think there would be a very strong case that Alabama would be left out and Michigan would go ahead of them. I don’t think it’s as simple as Alabama just get to Atlanta.
It's difficult to imagine a playoff without Alabama, but a loss to Georgia with conference titles by Clemson, Georgia and Michigan and an undefeated season from Notre Dame might do it.
The final two weeks of the season are here. Stay tuned.
