Kirk Herbstreit gave his take on Ohio State's chances of making the College Football Playoff without winning the Big Ten.
In the Big Ten East, there is a three way tie between Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State. The Wolverines control their own destiny, meaning if they win out, they will be in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Both Ohio State and Penn State need a little more help than that to make the Big Ten title game, but it is possible. However, one fan wanted to know, is it possible for the Buckeyes to make the College Football Playoff, even without making it to the Big Ten title game?
College football analyst Kirk Herbstreit gave his take on the Buckeyes' chances of making it into the playoff.
The Buckeyes final game of the regular season comes against the Michigan Wolverines. If they win that game, Penn State would likely make it into the Big Ten title game, assuming the Nittany Lions do not lose their remaining two games.
Ohio State would then be looking for a Penn State loss to Wisconsin, or Nebraska from the Big Ten West, which would give Ohio the best chance to make the playoff. Even if Penn State does win the Big Ten, Ohio State would battle a one-loss Louisville team for the final spot in the College Football Playoff.
It may not look great for the Buckeyes right now, but there is a lot that can still happen in the final two weeks of the regular season.
