The 2018 college football season is still a ways away. We’re about seven months from the season openers.
That’s not stopping ESPN from releasing its preseason rankings. The Worldwide Leader recently updated its way-too-early top 25 following National Signing Day. Alabama is not No. 1.
Clemson, following its loss to Alabama in the College Football Playoff, comes in on top. The Tigers return a ton of talent and bring in an elite recruiting class. Dabo Swinney’s team will enter the 2018 season with huge expectations.
Alabama isn’t far behind, though. The Crimson Tide came in at No. 2. Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma round out the top five.
Kirk Herbstreit has reacted to ESPN’s new preseason top 25. He thinks it’s a little early.
“Already starting?? It’s February. Guessing these may change in the next SIX months!! 4 B1G in the top 10?? Whoa. Using that 7-1 bowl record as momentum I see,” he tweeted.

The Big Ten does dominate the top part of the top 25. The conference has four teams inside the top 25.
