ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit was highly impressed with both Georgia and Notre Dame following their heavyweight bout on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs entered Saturday's game as a big two-touchdown favorite, though the Fighting Irish hung tough for four quarters.
Georgia eventually pulled out a 23-17 win, improving to 4-0 on the season, while Notre Dame dropped to 2-1 on the year.
Herbstreit loved what he saw from both teams.
"SO IMPRESSED by Notre Dame tonight!! Willingness to play in a heavyweight brawl. Battled and had a chance to win in the end. Did NOTHING to hurt their cause-only strengthened their position. Great win for Georgia but Irish on the road gained some national respect!" he tweeted.
We'll see if the polls agree with Herbstreit.
Notre Dame should not drop much - if at all - in the top 25 polls following the close loss to No. 3 Georgia. The Fighting Irish should remain in the College Football Playoff hunt, too.
