Kirk Herbstreit: This Might Be College Football's Most-Intimidating Environment

There's not very much going on in the college football world. It's the offseason, the 2018 recruiting cycle has ended, spring ball is a couple of weeks away...there's really nothing going on at all.

So, let's talk about a topic that everyone likes to debate: the toughest college football stadiums to play in.

The list varies from year to year, but the usual suspects are almost always on it. Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Wisconsin, etc.

Kirk Herbstreit weighed in on this debate back in the fall. His pick might surprise you.

The ESPN college football analyst has a Big Ten stadium at the top of his list. It's not Ohio State.

"I'm telling you, I've been all over the country for the past 20 years...I don't know if there's a better, more-intimidating atmosphere than the whiteout at State College," he said.

Herbstreit said this prior to Penn State's home game against Michigan. The Nittany Lions went on to blow out the Wolverines.

PSU won that game, 42-13. The Nittany Lions ended the year with a win over Washington in the Fiesta Bowl.

Beaver Stadium should once again be an incredibly intimidating place to play at in 2018. Penn State is ranked No. 11 in ESPN's way-too-early preseason top 25.
