With week six of the 2019 college football season almost in the books, we’re starting to get a sense of what the first College Football Playoff rankings could look like in a few weeks. After the Ohio State vs. Michigan State game ended, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit ranked his top four teams in the land.
Herbstreit included Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson and LSU in his group. He said the Buckeyes have looked as good as any other team in the country so far this year.
The obvious snubs here are Georgia, which blasted Tennessee on Saturday, and Oklahoma, which handled Kansas.
LSU and Alabama will play each other during the regular season, and it’s very possible that one of them plays Georgia in the SEC title game in December.
Ohio State, meanwhile, has tough matchups against Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan still left on its schedule.
Clemson has the easiest road in the group, but after the way the Tigers looked against North Carolina, anything is possible.
The first College Football Playoff rankings will come out Tuesday, November 5.
