Kirk Herbstreit Has Officially Unveiled His National Title Pick

Kirk Herbstreit thinks a team could be out of the playoff.

The 2018 college football season kicks off this weekend. ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit just dropped his annual prediction piece.

“The Herbies” are always a fun read. They feature a ton of preseason awards and predictions, including playoff picks, national champion, top impact players and more.

Herbstreit's playoff picks are pretty chalky. He anticipates three teams who have been there before getting back, and he likes another team that just missed the playoff the last two years to finally get in.

Oh yeah, he also thinks we're getting Alabama-Clemson IV, with the national title being on the line.

Herbstreit is picking Alabama to win back-to-back titles, and their sixth overall under Nick Saban.

  • Alabama
  • Clemson
  • Penn State
  • Washington
  • National title game: Alabama over Clemson

Alabama, Clemson and Washington are clearly the favorites in their respective conferences. Penn State has a dogfight to get out of the Big Ten, but the Nittany Lions are capable. Plus, Herbie think Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley is winning the Heisman Trophy.

The games get started this weekend. It should be fun following all of these predictions as the season progresses.
