ESPN's Booger McFarland "Most Intrigued" By Lane Kiffin In LSU Search
ESPN college football analyst Booger McFarland joined Russillo & Kanell today.
Booger McFarland, an SEC Network analyst, played at LSU and still has connections down in Baton Rouge, La.
The 38-year-old two-time Super Bowl champion discussed LSU's coaching search in-depth, revealing the candidate he's "most intrigued" by. That coach? Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin, 41, has thrived with the Crimson Tide, but he hasn't been a head coach since 2013. His head coaching stints at USC (2010-13), Tennessee (2009) and with the Oakland Raiders (2007-08) were all troubled to varying degrees.
Learning under Nick Saban (who won a national title at LSU) for three years is a big positive, though, and perhaps he'll put in a good word for Kiffin.
"The key will be, can Saban vouch for him enough?" McFarland asks. "He wants a big job. The key is - does Saban vouch for him get him over the top?"
We're all for a potential Lane Kiffin/LSU vs. Nick Saban/Alabama rivalry in the seasons to come. Make it happen, Tigers.
