Lane Kiffin's FAU fell to Marshall on Friday night, 36-31, to drop to 4-3 on the season. It was the first Conference USA loss of the season for the Owls.

“We had so many opportunities early to take advantage of the situation, which we did not do obviously,” FAU coach Lane Kiffin said postgame. “This is what happens. You keep getting penalties, you miss tackles, you have three-and-outs, and you don’t convert on fourth-downs, you lose at the end.”

FAU had some self-inflicted wounds, of course, but there were also some questionable penalty calls.

Kiffin appeared to weigh in on his conference's refs on Twitter tonight:

Yeah, that's probably not going to play too well in conference headquarters...

FAU (4-3) is set to play at Old Dominion next Saturday.
