Florida State’s football program is on the verge of a head coaching hire, according to the latest report from ESPN.
ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg and Mark Schlabach are reporting that Memphis head coach Mike Norvell is the clear favorite to land the Seminoles’ head coaching vacancy.
An official announcement on Norvell’s hire could come soon.
Memphis is set to play in the American Athletic Conference championship game on Saturday.
Mike Norvell, who in four seasons has taken Memphis’ football program to unprecedented heights, is the leading candidate to become the next head coach at Florida State, sources told ESPN.
Norvell, 38, has been mentioned for several major jobs in recent seasons. He’s led the Tigers to an 11-1 record this season and has gone 37-15 as the program’s head coach since 2016.
Florida State fired head coach Willie Taggart earlier this season.
An official announcement on the hiring could come as soon as Sunday.
