LSU star running back Leonard Fournette will not be playing against Jacksonville State on Saturday night.
According to a report by Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, LSU star running back Leonard Fournette will not play or dress for his team's contest against Jacksonville State on Saturday. Fournette suffered an ankle injury during last week's game against Wisconsin.
Fournette was considered a game-time decision heading into Saturday. He reportedly tried warming up before the team made the decision.
The decision by LSU's coaching staff makes sense. SEC play starts next week - so if there is a game you'd want to let Fournette rest - it'd be this one.
Fournette rushed for 138 yards on 23 carries against the Badgers last week, but his team lost the contest 16-14. In the 2015 season, the Heisman Trophy candidate rushed for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns.
