Les Miles, Art Briles, Lane Kiffin To Interview For Houston Job

The coaching position at Houston is open, and Les Miles, Art Briles and Lane Kiffin are candidates reportedly set to interview for the job.

With Tom Herman leaving for Texas, Houston has begun the search for a new head coach. According to ESPN's Brett McMurphy, the Cougars will be interviewing at least five candidates, including: former LSU head coach Les Miles, former Baylor head coach Art Briles, and Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.

Les Miles was fired midseason by the Tigers after a slow start to the season culminated with an 18-13 loss to Auburn. He was rumored to have interest in the Purdue position, but that's "no longer a possibility."

The interview should be déjà vu for both the Houston staff and Art Briles; he served as head coach of the Cougars from 2003 to 2007 before taking the job at Baylor.

Lane Kiffin is reportedly ready to move on from his role at Alabama, and is also being courted by LSU to serve as offensive coordinator alongside new head coach Ed Orgeron. His interview is set to take place after the SEC championship game.

Update:

Houston has released a statement that it will not be interviewing Art Briles and he is not being considered for the head coaching position.
