Superstar rapper Lil Wayne will be ESPN College GameDay's celebrity guest picker on Saturday.
ESPN's College GameDay is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana ahead of tonight's huge SEC West contest between LSU and Alabama, and it looks like the Worldwide Leader found someone with pretty strong ties to the state to be its celebrity guest picker. Lil Wayne, one of the most successful rappers of all time, will be making guest picks for the network. The 34-year-old was born in New Orleans.
One of the shows analysts - Desmond Howard - broke the news on his Twitter feed early Saturday morning.
Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., is both a rapper and a businessman. Carter is the CEO of Young Money Entertainment, which launched the careers of Drake, Nicki Minaj and others.
Given GameDay's young demographic, the choice to bring in Lil Wayne should go over well. GameDay has been a bit hit or miss this year when it comes to celebrity guests, but this is a pretty good get.
Will Lil Wayne pick LSU to the delight of the Louisiana faithful? It's pretty likely. He'll be on around 11:50 a.m. ET.
