Jalil Tucker, a four-star recruit out of San Diego, announced his commitment to Oregon football late Friday night, but not before his dad accidentally spoiled the entire announcement.
Tucker made his announcement on live television just moments after his high-school football game Friday night. Prior to making his decision, a reporter spoke to Tucker’s father for a few moments.
He spoke high of Tucker and also cracked a few jokes along the way. In doing so, he accidentally broke the news on where Tucker is heading.
“I’m happy for him,” Tucker’s dad said. “He’s a good kid. Lazy, but he’s a good kid. I know he’s going to represent Oregon well.”
This might be the most funniest recruiting decision ever.

Jalil definitely kept his composure, though. He didn’t seem too bothered that his dad accidentally broke the news. Just moments later, Tucker announced he’s indeed joining the Ducks. Congrats, Jalil!
Mario Cristobal and his staff at Oregon have been dominating the recruiting game as of late. The Ducks’ current 2022 class is ranked fifth in the nation on 247Sports. The class is headlined by five-star offensive lineman Kelvin Banks, high four-star receiver Tetairoa McMillan and now Tucker, who’s one of the top athletes in the nation.
Oregon’s recruiting efforts have been phenomenal with Cristobal at the helm. The Ducks had the 11th-ranked class in 2020, sixth-ranked in 2021 and now the fifth-ranked class in 2022.
If the Ducks keep this up, they’ll be dominating the Pac-12 for years to come.
