LSU Announced Some Major Joe Burrow News Today

Joe Burrow speaking to reporters at ohio state

LSU's football program has decided on its starting quarterback for the 2018 season. The Tigers will be going with the transfer.

Joe Burrow, a former four-star recruit who transferred to Baton Rouge, La. from Ohio State this offseason, has been named the starter.

The former Buckeyes' QB was competing for the job with former top recruit Myles Brennan.

Sports Illustrated reporter Ross Dellenger first reported the news.

"Ed Orgeron is about to tell his #LSU team that #OhioState transfer Joe Burrow is the starting QB. Burrow's experience & decision-making pushed ahead of Myles Brennan & his big arm, but Brennan will play & could redshirt if he doesn't play in more than 4 games," he reports.

Burrow spent the 2016 season as Ohio State's backup quarterback and played well behind J.T. Barrett. He broke his hand heading into the 2017 season, losing the backup role to Dwayne Haskins.

LSU is set to open the 2018 season on Sept. 2 against Miami. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. E.T. on ABC.
