Ticket Tuesday: College Football Week 13

The third edition of the College Football Playoff rankings will not be released until Tuesday night, but based upon last week’s results, not much should be changing. The top four teams from last week’s second edition of the rankings—Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame—all won rather easily.

Iowa and Oklahoma State are the two teams on the outside looking in, as the sixth-ranked Baylor Bears and seventh-ranked Stanford both had disappointing losses to most likely knock them out of contention.

This week, two of the teams in the current edition of the top four are involved in the most expensive college football games according to secondary market ticket aggregator TiqIQ.com.

11/21/2015 | Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Boston College Eagles | Fenway Park | Average Price: $526.02 | Get-in Price: $235

The next installment of the Shamrock Series is the most expensive college football tickets for the weekend as Notre Dame “hosts” the Boston College Eagles at Fenway Park in Boston, MA. Fans who were patient in the ticket purchasing process are in the best situation, as the average price was as high as $1,380 on November 3rd. It has taken a sharp decline since, falling to the $526.02 average ticket price seen today in about two weeks time. With four days remaining until kickoff, recent trends are showing the prices may fall even more as the calendar heads to the 21st.

11/21/2015 | Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan State Spartans | Ohio Stadium | Average Price: $380.42 | Get-in Price: $145

Unlike the Notre Dame and Boston College game, the prime window to purchase secondary market Buckeyes tickets for a home game against the Spartans may have passed. The average ticket price was as high as $439.13 on October 3rd and was similarly priced on November 3rd with a price of $426.49. In the next 10 days, the average ticket price fell to $351.92 before going on a recent uptick to the current price of $380.42 with a get-in price of $145. It appears the hype is rising and the days of acquiring tickets near the $350 range may be gone.

11/21/2015 | Mississippi Rebels vs. LSU Tigers | Vaught Hemingway Stadium | Average Price: $269.69 | Get-in Price: $124

With both teams out of the CFP race, the hype certainly has faded in the days leading up to the game. On October 3rd the average ticket price was as high as $483.76 and it has just been steadily falling to the $269.69 average price and $124 get-in price seen today. If fans are looking to go to Vaught Hemingway Stadium on Saturday, it may be worth waiting until the last moments to pull the trigger on a purchase.

It’s the final home game of the season for the Rebels, so out-of-town fans looking to wrap up the regular season by watching the game from inside the stadium, Hipmunk.com has Oxford hotels near the Ole Miss campus starting from $67. A three-star Graduate Oxford hotel room starting from $149 per night is within 1.5 miles of Vaught Hemingway Stadium. Hipmunk’s flight guide can navigate any fan flying in for the action with flights from most major airports in the country.
