Luke Del Rio Injury Update: Florida Quarterback Will Probably Miss Tennesssee Game

There is a Luke Del Rio injury update, and it doesn't sound like good news for the Florida quarterback.

Florida shut out North Texas 32-0 tonight, but it look like the Gators lost their quarterback to a knee injury. Head coach Jim McElwain provided an update on Luke Del Rio after the game.

The sophomore signal-caller was injured in the second half on a hit McElwain took exception to. The head coach had to be restrained as he yelled at the North Texas staff.

Now, it looks like Del Rio is out for next week's showdown against Tennessee and likely beyond.

Without Del Rio, Florida would likely have to turn to Purdue transfer Austin Appleby. Appleby completed 2-of-4 passes for 30 yards in relief of Del Rio tonight. He also rushed one time for five yards. Appleby appeared in 16 games for the Boilermakers, making 11 starts.

There's a lot at stake next week when Florida meets Tennessee. The Gators are in the middle of an 11-game winning streak against their rival. Also, the winner of next week's game has a leg up on the SEC East race.

We'll update you with any more information that comes in on Luke Del Rio's condition.
