A major college football coach will reportedly be fired at some point before the end of the season.

Houston is reportedly expected to fire head coach Major Applewhite following the Cougars' disappointing 2018 season.

Applewhite's team was blown out by Army, 70-14, in its bowl game. The Cougars finished the season at 8-5.

SB Nation first reported the news of Applewhite's impending firing.

Bruce Feldman has since confirmed the news.

"BREAKING: #Houston is expected to part ways with head coach Major Applewhite in the next 24 hours, sources tell me. SB Nation 1st reported the move was in the works," he reports.

West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen could reportedly be targeted by Houston after Applewhite's firing.
