Malik Zaire is reportedly down to either Wisconsin or North Carolina.
Former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire, who lost the starting quarterback competition to DeShone Kizer before the season began, announced last week that he'd be transferring for his final year of eligibility. According to Tom Loy of 247 Sports, Zaire could be down to just two schools. Loy is reporting that North Carolina and Wisconsin are real options. He thinks the Badgers have the edge.
I’ve been digging into this and from what I can gather, people connected with Wisconsin’s program are much more confident than North Carolina at this point. It’ll be interesting to watch, but pulling the trigger for the Badgers sooner rather than later wouldn’t come as a major shock to me.
If he did head to Wisconsin, he'd likely compete with Alex Hornibrook for the starting gig.
Zaire, this past season, finished 11-of-23 for 122 yards and a touchdown. He began the 2015 season as Notre Dame's starter before suffering a broken ankle against Virginia.
