Two Maryland Football Players Charged With Shooting BB Guns At Students

Maryland football players Lorenzo Harrison and DJ Turner have been identified as the shooters in a Nov. 6 BB gun incident.

Freshmen Maryland football players Lorenzo Harrison and DJ Turner will be charged with three counts of second-degree assault and three counts of reckless endangerment, stemming from a BB gun incident on Nov. 6, UMPD announced. Per the UM Police report, several students reported being hit by BB pellets on campus near Maryland's football stadium.

The two were suspended before last week's game against Ohio State, and following the release of the charges earlier this afternoon, have been suspended indefinitely.

The University released the following statement:

We are aware of the situation and take these matters very seriously. The two student-athletes involved have been suspended indefinitely for violating the student-athlete code of conduct. This matter has also been referred to the Office of Student Conduct for further review.

A court date has not yet been issued for the players.
