For some reason, ESPN tabbed talk show host Maury Povich to be its celebrity guest picker on College GameDay Saturday morning. While Povich seemed to know his college football, he made one head-scratching mistake.

Povich, when picking the Pittsburgh vs. Wake Forest game, told viewers that the Panthers could "make the playoff" coming out of the ACC.

Pitt has a 6-4 record. While it's looking very likely that the Panthers will get to play in the ACC title game against Clemson, there is a zero percent chance they wind up in the Playoff. Zero.

Twitter found the comment interesting, to say the least.

In reality, there are probably only nine teams with realistic shots at the College Football Playoff - Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Washington State. Everyone else is out.

Povich's appearance on GameDay was controversial in the first place. This comment didn't help.

That said, UCF fans brought it for GameDay on Saturday. Props to them.
