Ex-Notre Dame S Max Redfield Issues Heartfelt Statement Before Texas Game

Dismissed former Notre Dame safety Max Redfield issued a statement today, hours before the Fighting Irish open up their season against Texas.

It has been two weeks since Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly dismissed starting safety Max Redfield from the program. Redfield was booted after being arrested for possession of an unregistered handgun and marijuana after getting pulled over.

Today, Redfield posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram account, wishing his "brothers" good luck against the Longhorns.

Redfield had off-field issues before his arrest, getting sent home from the Fiesta Bowl last year. Has his latest brush with the law caused him to clean things up? Time will tell.

In the meantime, the Fighting Irish will rely on sixth-year senior Avery Sebastian and true freshman Devin Studstill to take his place.
