Miami vs. Pitt preview:
Pitt has had a season of up and downs and very close calls. The Panthers have three wins on the season in which they have won by four points or fewer. They also have two losses on the season in which they have lost by three points or fewer, including last week against No. 25 Virginia Tech.
The Hurricanes started off the season with four straight wins over Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Appalachian State, and Georgia Tech and were ranked as high as No. 10 in the country. How quickly things change. Miami dropped a close contest to Florida State and never recovered, losing three straight after that game to sit at an even 4-4 on the season.
The Panthers and Hurricanes have played 35 times in history, with the Hurricanes holding a 24-10-1 advantage.
Miami vs. Pitt prediction:
Pitt has a slight edge on offense, led by junior tailback James Conner. The Panthers are averaging over 230 yards per game on the ground, while the Hurricanes are giving up just over 150 yards per game on the ground.
Pitt's secondary will need to step up this weekend if the Panthers have any chance of winning. The Panthers are allowing over 310 yards per game through the air, and they are about to face a solid quarterback in Brad Kaaya.
Pitt's defense will step up and Connor will have a huge game en route to Pitt becoming bowl eligible.
