To be clear, Urban Meyer is never going to be the head coach at Michigan. He would never take the job with the Wolverines and they would never offer it to him. But that didn’t stop a few crazy fans from suggesting it this past Saturday.
Michigan barely survived Army on Saturday, emerging with a double-overtime victory. The Black Knights, who had the lead most of the game, missed a field goal attempt at the buzzer in regulation to win.
Considering Michigan is supposed to be a College Football Playoff contender this season, fans are starting to freak out a bit. Some took to message boards to suggest the team needs to move on from head coach Jim Harbaugh.
One suggested they hire Urban Meyer “before” USC does. USA Today wrote an article about another set of tweets with a similar sentiment.

Meyer has said that he’s done coaching, but many don’t believe him. There are two programs that could make sense if he wants to return – USC and Notre Dame. It could depend on whether either has a job opening in the next few years.
As for Michigan, fans are starting to get a bit restless. Harbaugh has built a solid program, but it hasn’t been elite. That doesn’t appear to have changed after two weeks in 2019.
Michigan and Ohio State will square off this year on November 30.
