Report: Notre Dame's Mike Sanford "Expected" To Be Western Kentucky's Next Head Coach

According to Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated, Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Sanford is headed to Western Kentucky to become the Hilltoppers' next head coach.

Western Kentucky has its man. The Hilltoppers, according to Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated, will hire Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Sanford to replace Jeff Brohm. Sanford, who has been with the Fighting Irish for two years, had coaching stints at UNLV, Stanford, Yale, Western Kentucky and Boise State before heading to South Bend.

Brohm, who had been at WKU the past three years, left for the head coaching job at Purdue last week. He led the program to a 30-10 record in his time on campus.

This will be Sanford's first head coaching gig. He'll inherit a team that finished 10-3 with an upcoming Boca Raton Bowl appearance against Memphis.
