Minnesota vs. Nebraska preview:
Minnesota is off to a surprising season, with bowl eligibility and seven wins already under its belt. The Golden Gophers opened the season with three straight wins, but lost back-to-back games against Penn State and Iowa, to slide to 3-2 on the season. Since then, Minnesota has reeled off four straight wins against Maryland, Rutgers, Illinois, and Purdue. Although none of those wins screams for the Golden Gophers to be a ranked team, a win is a win.
Nebraska started the season with seven straight wins, but many questioned whether or not the Cornhuskers were a legitimate contender. After a tight loss to Wisconsin, it looked like Nebraska was a Top-10 team. Then the Cornhuskers played Ohio State. The Buckeyes drubbed Nebraska by a score of 62-3 for the second largest margin of victory ever among Top-10 teams.
The Golden Gophers and Cornhuskers have played 56 times in history, with the Gophers holding a 31-23-2 advantage.
Minnesota vs. Nebraska prediction:
Nebraska might be without starting quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. after the senior took a nasty hit in the Cornhuskers’ game against Ohio State last weekend.
Even if that is the case, Nebraska should be able to take care of a Minnesota team that has struggled against quality opponents.
