Week 8 of the college football season is upon us and both major polls have been updated ahead of a pivotal weekend on the gridiron.
Every week, we examine which teams might be a tad overranked in the Coaches Poll. We're not saying they're no good, just slotted a bit too high.
If your team is on this list, don't fret. There is always time for them to change our minds and make their way off it.
With that being said, here are the three “most overrated” teams in the latest Coaches Poll.
Note, we listed the three teams in the order they were ranked in the poll, not necessarily by which we think is most overrated:
No. 7 Notre Dame
Perhaps it is wrong to include the Irish on this list because they aren't drastically overrated. Notre Dame is clearly a top 10 team and we expect them to handle Michigan on the road this weekend. However, Florida has been more impressive thus far this season, so we'd move the Irish behind the Gators. And even though we had Georgia on this list last week, the Bulldogs are two spots below Notre Dame despite having won the head-to-head battle.
No. 9 Auburn
Auburn has been on this list a couple of times of late, and it is mostly because we are concerned about the Tigers' offense. Remember, they still have to play Georgia, LSU and Alabama. Two of those games should be losses, possibly all three. We need to see more out of Bo Nix as the schedule gets tougher, starting with this Saturday in Death Valley. If the Tigers beat LSU though, we will be eating crow and you won't see Auburn in this feature next week.
No. 21 Boise State
Let's put the Broncos here with a caveat: if Hank Bachmeier plays, they are a top 20 team. But if the star quarterback is forced to miss more time with his hip pointer, Boise State probably shouldn't and won't be ranked. If Bachmeier had played against BYU, the Broncos would not have lost to a mediocre Cougars outfit.
