The mother of a former Ohio State football star who played for Urban Meyer has taken to Twitter to criticize the Buckeyes' head coach.

Meyer was widely criticized for his lack of comments on Courtney Smith, the ex-wife of Zach Smith, during his three-game suspension press conference earlier this week. He has since taken to Twitter to issue a new statement, directly apologizing to Courtney by name.

"I sincerely apologize to Courtney Smith and her children for what they have gone through," he wrote.

Much of Buckeye Nation has been supportive - albeit disappointed - with Meyer throughout this process.

The mother of a former Ohio State football star, though, has taken to Twitter to heavily criticize both Urban and his wife, Shelley.

"12 hours, Urban had to come with compassion for a woman who was terrorized, abused. 9 yrs since he knew of her abuser’s first arrest of domestic violence, did nothing & continued to enable him. Two days, it took him to come up with this self-serving “apology” after public outcry," she wrote.

"That’s other heartbreaking part. Urban & Shelly sat by for weeks while these vile fans ripped Courtney. Shelly text Urban about Zach “rage issues” but did nothing to defend Courtney to the public. Urban didn’t listen to his heart or his head. Urban was looking out for his wallet."

It's certainly fair to criticize Meyer for how he's handled everything. However, it is a bit surprising to see that criticism come from the parent of one of his former players.
