New Mexico football is dealing with an unspeakable tragedy today. Defensive tackle Nahje Flowers has passed away at the too-young age of 21.
There aren’t many details regarding Flowers’ death at this time, but New Mexico confirmed the terrible news this morning. Head football coach Bob Davie and AD Eddie Nunez released statements.
“Earlier this morning we were made aware of the tragic loss of Nahje Flowers,” Davie said. “Our entire football team and everyone who knew Nahje are devastated by this loss. Our entire Lobo Football family mourns his passing, and our prayers go out to his family.”

The 6-foot-3, 278-pound Flowers played in six games for the Lobos this season, making four starts. He registered 13 tackles, 1.5 sacks and blocked one kick.
A native of Los Angeles, Flowers appeared in 30 games over three seasons at New Mexico. He redshirted in 2016.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Flowers’ friends and family and the UNM program following their tragic loss.
